It’s not the result the players hoped for, but for captain Rachel Anne Daquis of PSL-F2 Logistics Manila she hopes their time at the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship will be a good learning experience for Filipinos.

“Eye-opener ito kasi kaya pala natin, namulat lahat,” said Daquis Sunday at Mall of Asia Arena.

PSL-F2 Logistics went winless in its five games in the tournament with its latest loss coming at the hands of Bangkok Glass in three sets ,25-16, 25-23, 25-20, in the battle for seventh place.

The hosts’ lone won set was in its final group stage match against defending champions Eczacibasi Vitra Istanbul and it is, arguably, the team’s biggest accomplishment in the world stage.

Daquis said Filipinos are capable to compete in international tournaments, and all they need is the chance to play.

“Kaya natin lumaban, kailangan lang is the chance na makapaglaro, ma-invite and mabuo nang mas maaga,” said Daquis.

The Philippine team that played in the WCWC was formed less than a month before its opening game, something Daquis sees as something the officials could improve on in terms of preparation.
