PATTS nears ISAA crown

The smallest man on court made the big difference as defending champion PATTS College of Aeronautics repulsed hard-fighting La Consolacion College Manila, 54-50, Monday in Game 1 of the 8th Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association menís basketball tournament.

The 5-foot-7 Joshua Diaz completed a steal and made the insurance free throws in the final minute to seal the Seahorsesí win at Trinity of University of Asia Gym.

“We’re going for a sweep,” said coach Lency Aransazo as PATTS  shoots for the title in Game 2 Wednesday.

Earlier, Philippine Womenís University copped third place with a 72-70 overtime win over  St. Dominic College of Asia.—Dennis U. Eroa
