BANGKOK—From the looks of it, Thailand’s reign as king of Asean football won’t be ending any time soon.

The Thais wrested a record fifth AFF Suzuki Cup crown, while putting a heartbreaking end to Indonesia’s sensational run with a 2-0 victory in the second leg of the finals before a crowd of 45,000 at Rajamangala Stadium.

A brace from striker Sirod Chattong helped the Thais overturn a 1-2 deficit from the first leg in Bogor as they ruled the biennial event for the second straight time.

The 5-foot-2 Chanathip Songkrasin was named most outstanding player, a fitting follow up to his feat in 2014.
