With San Sebastian seemingly hell-bent on remaining immaculate, Arellano is fine with being second fiddle in the NCAA Season 92 women’s volleyball tournament for now.

Lady Chiefs head coach Obet Javier on Wednesday said the Lady Stags can take the first seed as long as the Lady Chiefs take a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four.

“We’re getting closer and closer but I always tell my team to just let Baste have the no.1 spot,” said Javier at San Juan Arena after sweeping Lyceum, 25-23, 25-23, 25-20.

“What’s important is we get the twice-to-beat advantage of being in the top two,” said Javier.

Arellano improved to 7-1, behind league leading San Sebastian at 7-0 even as the Lady Pirates dropped to 5-3.

The Lady Chiefs’ lone loss came at the hands of San Sebastian but after that initial setback, they went on a warpath and won seven straight.

Despite the win streak, Javier warned they can’t afford to take a step slower especially with just one game left on their schedule.

“I always tell them ‘even though we’re winning the desire to win should always be there,” said Javier. “We can’t afford to get relax.”
