With age comes wisdom and even at just 19 years old, Maddie Madayag knows there’s no point crying over spilled milk.

Madayag could’ve had one great post-birthday celebration had Ateneo completed its comeback against National University in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament.

But the Lady Bulldogs, turns out, are party poopers.

Ateneo fell to the Lady Bulldogs in four sets, 25-17, 25-13, 19-25, 29-27, Wednesday at San Juan Arena but all the Lady Eagles could do is learn from their mistakes.

“We talked about the loss after the game and we just decided that we won’t mind what happened,” said Madayag, who celebrated her birthday on Tuesday. “It’s over, we can’t do anything about it, what we’re going to do is focus on our next game.”

Madayag had four points but sat the bench in the fourth set.

The loss may sting, but the good thing is that it happened early in the season and the Lady Eagles have ample time to recover.

“It’s okay, it’s just the first round,” said Madayag whose Lady Eagles have a 1-1 record. “I think we weren’t that focused [as NU] but we’re working on it. I think we just have to concentrate better.”
