Locals seek rebound at LPGT Malarayat
Pauline del Rosario leads the locals out for a rebound in the ICTSI Champion Tour at Malarayat beginning Wednesday in Lipa City, Batangas.
The rookie pro shared second place at Splendido last week and, sans Thai champion Thai Kanphanitnan Muangkhumsakul, is gunning for a breakthrough victory in the $75,000-event sponsored by Champion and serving as the second leg of the ICTSI Ladies Philippine Golf Tour.
“I like my chances but unlike last week, I have to be consistent to get a crack at the crown,” said Del Rosario.
Though Muangkhumsakul is playing in China, the Thai contingent remains strong with former LPGT leg winner Wannasiri Sirisampant and Narisara Kerdrit competing.
The 73-player field also include former LPGT leg champion Hwang Ye-nah of Korea and amateur Hwang Min-jeong, who tamed Cyna Rodriguez and Princess Superal to snare the title at Mt. Malarayat in 2015. —ROY LUARCA
