Korean storms to 8-shot lead

Only a major disaster can prevent Korean Hwang Ye-nah from winning the ICTSI Champion Tour at Malarayat.

Hwang carded a three-under-par 69 Thursday to post an imposing eight-stroke lead over Thai Chatprapa Siriprakob heading into Friday’s final round.

Counting her opening 66, Hwang pooled a nine-under 135 to ward off the challenge of Siriprakob, who turned in a day-best 68 under scorching heat for a 143 total.

Princess Superal settled for a 73 and fell into joint third with Korean amateur Hwang Min-jeong (72) at 144.

Superal said she would need to score in the low 60s to have a chance. —ROY LUARCA
