Pacquiao guest of honor at Elorde awards

Fighting senator Manny Pacquiao will be the guest of honor and speaker when the 17th Gabriel “Flash” Elorde Boxing Awards Banquet of Champions is held this Saturday at Manila Hotel’s Tent City.

Pacquiao, the lone 8-division world champion, will also lead the awardees in the event that will honor reigning world kings Marlon Tapales (WBO bantamweight), John Riel Casimero (IBF flyweight) and Jerwin Ancajas (IBF super flyweight) as Boxers of the Year (2016).

The event coincides with the 82nd birth anniversary of Elorde, undisputed world junior lightweight champion from 1960-67. —ROY LUARCA
