/ 02:51 AM March 21, 2017

Tennielle Madis hauled three championships while John David Velez bagged two to seize Most Valuable Player honors in the Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala Davao leg regional age-group tennis circuit at GSIS Tennis Club on Monday.

Madis blanked Joji Taketomi, 4-0, 4-0, to claim the

10-unisex crown before scoring another lopsided 6-0, 6-1 victory over Jillian Manangking in the girls’ 12-U finals.

The pride of M’lang, Cotabato, then teamed up with Sanchena Francisco to edge Taketomi and Shaun Globasa, 8-5, for the 10-unisex doubles title in the Group 2 event.

Velez ran off with a 6-1(ret.) win over Andre Sing for the boys’ 14-U crown and joined hands with Cedric Pamplona in thwarting Kurt Haro and Sing, 8-5, for the 14-U doubles title.

No. 2 seed Klyde Lagarde of Gen. Santos City, however, foiled Velez’s three-title bid with a 7-6(6), 4-6, 10-7 triumph in the boy’s 16-U championship. —VANESSA B. HIDALGO
