Ageless Glen Aguilar bucked a slow start to rout a field of young daredevil riders led by Davao pride Bornok Mangosong to rule the Pro Open class anew in the Diamond Motor Supercross Series on Sunday at Mx Messiah Fairgrounds in Taytay, Rizal.

Mangosong bolted to the front at the start before the 42-year-old Aguilar banked on his vast experience to wrest the lead for good in the third of the energy-sapping 25-lap race.

Though he lacked sleep after competing in another race a day earlier, Aguilar of KTM Racing showed he could stand the rigors of a long, hot race.

“I’m very happy [to win again],” said Aguilar, who won the overall title of the 2016 edition of the national series featuring the country’s best moto riders.

“I need to improve my stamina,” said Mangosong, the 25-year-old Yamaha rider who also placed second to Aguilar in the first of the five-leg series organized by Xtreme Adrenaline Sports headed by Sam Tamayo of Generation Congregation.

Nueva Ecija’s Pia Gabriel, riding a bike borrowed from her brother Ompong, topped the DC Shoes Ladies’ Class, as expected, over Quiana Reyes and Shana Tamayo.
