Event after coming up big in Cignal-San Beda’s 93-85 Game 1 win over Racal to start the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup Finals, Jason Perkins would rather pass the buck and credit his teammates for his performance.

“It’s all on my teammates. I have such a good support system around me and we have so many threats on the court,” he said.

The Fil-American forward has been a solid for the Hawkeyes in their title aspirations this conference, averaging 13.0 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.4 assists for the season.

And on Thursday, Perkins was at it again as he tallied 28 points, eight rebounds, and two assists in the championship curtain-raiser.

Reluctant to be on spotlight, Perkins would rather look at the Game 1 conquest as a product of Cignal’s team effort.

“It just happened to be my night tonight. Everyone on the team made a great job of moving the ball around and playing together. It’s all on the team,” he said.

And after holding strong and fending off the Tile Masters’ huge rally late, Perkins is excited to get back on the court and complete the Hawkeyes’ goal from the very beginning.

“I’m excited for Game 2 because we know they’re gonna come back strong,” he said. “It should be a fun game. That fourth quarter is gonna help us in the next game because they showed us what we need to work on.”
