Failing to advance in the semifinals in his first foray in the developmentals, Jeron Teng seeks to make a bigger mark as he joins the upstart Flying V Thunder this upcoming 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup.

And he has no doubt that he can accomplish what he failed to do so last conference, especially with familiar faces flanking him in the squad.

Teng will reunite with coach Eric Altamirano in the team after previously joining forces in the youth team back in 2010.

“I know that I’m in good hands because I’ve known coach Eric since I was in high school, so I know how his system works. I think I’ll do well in his system,” he said.

It also won’t hurt that Teng will be teaming up anew with his former La Salle teammates in Flying V, namely Thomas Torres, Jovet Mendoza, and Joshua Webb.

“I think we got a good squad in Flying V and I have there former teammates of mine, Thomas, Jovet, and Webb, so we have an advantage when it comes to the familiarity with the players,” Teng said.

Also joining the Thunder are ex-pros Eric Salamat, St. Clare big man Aris Dionisio, ex-Adamson center Jan Colina, Gab Banal, Luis Sinco, Oda Tampus, JR Ongteco, and Mike Gamboa.

Still, Teng believes that Flying V’s success lies on the team’s chemistry if it truly wants to make a run for the title.

“Everyone here is very competitive and we want nothing less than the championship. With our lineup, I think we can do that. We have lots of things to work on and I hope our team chemistry goes well also,” he said. “We know we have to work hard for it so we’re just positive and I’m confident that we’ll achieve greater things this conference.”
