Alcantara, pal sweep futures

Francis Casey Alcantara and Dutch partner Sem Verbeek swept the Singapore Futures doubles after capturing the F3 title Saturday at Kallang Tennis Center.

Third picks Alcantara and Verbeek drubbed fourth seeds Yuichi Ito of Japan and Nam Hoang Ly of Vietnam, 7-6 (3), 6-2, in the finals. They also took F1 and F2 titles the past two weeks.

“We were very confident going in the third leg but at the same time nervous because of the pressure to win again,” said the 25-year-old Alcantara, a former Australian Open juniors doubles champion. —MARC REYES
