“DEFEND YOURSELF AT ALL TIMES!” 😱

Fighters are often cautioned by referees to “defend yourselves at all times,” and this viral clip certainly explains why.

Chaos erupted at a Glory kickboxing event in Paris over the weekend, when fans stormed the ring and viciously attacked kickboxer Murthel “The Predator” Groenhart after his welterweight bout against Harut Grigorian.

As seen in the Instagram video uploaded by ESPN, the two combatants were exchanging strikes in the center of the ring, when Groenhart connected with a flying knee.

Grigorian appeared to be asking for a timeout and inexplicably turned his back on his opponent and walked towards his corner.

The referee, however, did not see why the fight had to be stopped and Groenhart capitalized by landing a right hand which knocked Grigorian out cold.

Groenhart celebrated his victory by raising his hands in the air, when he was attacked by two hulking men from the audience.

The angered fans were believed to be agitated by Groenhart’s “cheap shot”, but ring side analyst Todd Grisham said the blow was completely legal.

He also shared the video on his Twitter page, which showed the moment one of the attackers came flying in out of nowhere.

According to Yahoo News, Groenhart believed he suffered a broken jaw from the unwarranted attack. Khristian Ibarrola/JB
