Hail to the Timberland King of the Mountain
Timberland King of the Mountain (TKOM), the annual flagship sporting event of Timberland Heights has once again pumped up the adrenalin of mountain biking enthusiasts as it recently held the 8th TKOM competition.
Timberland Heights is now known as the “mountain biking capital” of the Philippines. During the competition, more than 400 mountain bikers raced through this top caliber bike trail compliant with the International Mountain Bike Association trails specification for both safety and technical standards. With an estimated 700-meter climb in a 25-kilometer distance, bikers had to conquer the steep technical ascent, multiple switch backs, flowy single track, bermed turns, fast descents, fire roads, rock-gardens and even stream-crossing.
Conquering this trail requires fitness, endurance and determination. This year’s winners have undoubtedly proven this. Ariana Dormitorio emerged as the winner in the women’s division after 1 hour, 38 minutes and 28 seconds and was again hailed Timberland Queen of the Mountain for eight consecutive years. “Timberland Heights is my home base training ground. Racing here has been a tradition and keeping my title is utmost priority,” Dormitorio happily said in an interview.
Cesar Lapaza, on the other hand was declared the King of the Mountain and the overall winner in a record-breaking history of 1 hour, 21 minutes and 12 seconds. “I am very proud to be the Timberland King of the Mountain this year, it was a difficult trail but a very good one too, very challenging. It pushed everyone to the limit,” Lapaza stressed.
The Timberland King of the Mountain competition was borne out of Filinvest’s vision of inspiring the community to participate in an active and healthy lifestyle particularly those who are into outdoor activities, Timberland Heights being the only biking destination closest to Metro Manila with first-class bike trails.
