LVPI okays Valdez return to Creamline for playoffs

Alyssa Valdez will see action when Creamline starts its best-of-three Premier Volleyball League semifinals against BaliPure on Saturday.

This after Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, the country’s national federation for the sport, gave her the green light to play with her club team.

The approval has one condition, though.

“Yes (she’s allowed to play) I already informed Rebisco. But she will stay with NT (quarters),” said LVPI acting president Pete Cayco.

The Nationals will be quartered in Orchids Hotel in Manila starting Friday ahead of the Aug. 9 to 17 Asian Senior Women’s Championships in Biñan, Laguna.

Orchids Hotel is a stone’s throw away from Arellano University where the team practices twice a day.

The highly bankable and explosive spiker said on Thursday that she would at least lend her presence for the Cool Smashers in the ongoing Open Conference.

“I’m really hoping to help the team and contribute even by my presence or better yet by playing,” said Valdez, who joined the club practice hours after arriving with the national team from Japan, where they held an extensive training camp.

Valdez said she’s focused on the national team as it aspires for a quarterfinal finish in the Asians and a medal in the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur on Aug. 19 to 31.

But she said she’s also concerned with Creamline, which has managed to win three matches while she was in Japan to sweep its way to the semifinals as the top seed.

“It’s not my decision to make (playing for Creamline) but I would really love to play (in the PVL) and help because I have commitments with them too.”
