Twelve-year-old driver Iñigo Anton became the country’s youngest winner of a slalom race in 30 years when he posted the Front Wheel Best Time of the Day in the recent fifth and sixth legs of the Phoenix National Slalom Series in Novaliches, Quezon City, and in Pampanga.

Racing under the banner of Castrol and Yokohama, the Grade 8 student from Baguio Achievers’ Academy beat 35-plus drivers, including his multititled father Carlos, with a time of 49.70 seconds in Novaliches.

Iñigo, who also turned in the Novice Best Time, repeated the feat in the Pampanga leg.

“The time finally came, Iñigo beat me fair and square, and he did it twice, just for good measure,” said the elder Anton.
