Azkals resume Asian Cup bid
The Philippines tries to inch closer to an AFC Asian Cup berth when it clashes with Yemen on Tuesday in Qatar.
Currently on top of Group F with seven points, the Azkals are gunning for their third victory in the qualifying round that will give them the inside track in the race for the two Asian Cup spots at stake in the group.
With Tajikistan hosting Nepal in Dushanbe in the other Group F encounter, the Azkals are hard-pressed to gain maximum points against the Yemenis, who held the Filipinos to a 2-2 draw in Bacolod last Sept. 5.
Strife-torn Yemen, two points behind the Philippines, plays its home matches in Doha due to security concerns.
“If we tie, we still have two chances to qualify,” said Azkals coach Thomas Dooley.
