CIMB Classic: Pagunsan assured of P.65 million
Just for making it to the CIMB Classic in Malaysia, Juvic Pagunsan has already earned for himself at least P650,000.
The no-cut format of the CIMB Classic set to start Thursday at Kuala Lumpur TPC course assures the last finisher $12,880 or about P650,000.
The prize money gets higher depending on how Pagunsan fares against the stars of the PGA Tour and some of his fellow Asian Tour standouts.
If he wins, Pagunsan will be earning about P64 million.
He places second and gets P38.5 million. A top 10 finish pays him P10 million. A top 20 showing pays him P3.6 million.
The event drew nine Major champions, 10 Presidents Cup team members, 15 players from the top 50 of the Official World Golf Ranking and 18 winners from the recent PGA Tour’s 2016-17 season.
Among those seeing action are Americans Keegan Bradley, Stewart Cink, Jason Dufner, Lucas Glover, Davis Love III, South Africans Ernie Els, Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel and, of course, Justin Thomas, the 2017 Player of the Year. —INQUIRER GOLF
