PBA: Pogoy is Rookie of the Year, Ross the Most Improved player

TNT’s Roger Ray Pogoy was recognized as the top rookie of the 2017 PBA Season during the Leo Awards on Friday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Pogoy edged Phoenix’ Matthew Wright, Kia’s Reden Celda, Ginebra’s Kevin Ferrer and Star’s Jio Jalalon the Rookie of the Year award.

San Miguel star guard Chris Ross was named the Most Improved Player of the season.

The star guard won the Finals MVP in the All-Filipino Cup and bagged the Best Player plum in the Commissioner’s Cup to lead the Beermen to two titles this year.

Meanwhile, Ginebra’s Japeth Aguilar, San Miguel’s June Mar Fajardo and Ross, Rain or Shine’s Gabe Norwood, Jalalon completed the all-defensive team.

The Samboy Lim sportsmanship award went to Norwood.
