The extra hours spent in the gym finally paid off for Alaska swingman Kevin Racal on Wednesday night.

Racal was neither the game’s leading scorer nor the Aces’ best player but he was instrumental in the Aces’ first win of the season.

The former Letran star scored six of his eight points inside the last three minutes, hitting two 3-pointers in a row that held off Meralco and give Alaska a 103-98 victory.

“It’s been so long since I had a good game. Maybe I just got lucky, but it was really because of my teammates. They were able to find me when I was open. And also, I practice my shots and I really do extra work,” Racal said.

The Aces chalked up their first win in three tries and Racal hopes they will be able to sustain their play heading into their game against the Kia Picanto.

The Picanto are currently on a 15-game slide dating back to last season but Racal said they aren’t to be taken lightly despite their standing.

“We still need to work for it. Kia won’t go to the game only to give the win to us so we need to work and prepare hard to win.”
