PAL titlist Luisita wary of tough Bacolod layout

With the Marapara and Binitin layouts in Bacolod posing totally different tests compared with other golf courses in the country, defending PAL Seniors Interclub champion Luisita is leaving no stones unturned in trying to extend its reign.

Even with more than a month before action gets off the ground on March 1, Luisita players sampled both tree-lined courses two weeks ago to familiarize themselves in playing the relatively short but extremely tight layouts.

“We are not taking anything for granted because these are tough courses,” skipper Jeric Hechanova said as Marapara (Negros Occidental Golf and Country Club) and Binitin (Bacolod Country Club) will be no easy pickings for the talented Championship Division field.

In fact, Hechanova believes that something just close to even par would be a worthy score after seeing his players struggle in three practice rounds.

“Five-over par would be a good score to aim for,” Hechanova said. “Scoring 50 points would be pretty good.”
