UST, Adamson set stage for softball duel

Defending champion Adamson University and University of Santo Tomas, priming up for this weekend’s rematch of last year’s Finals, posted contrasting victories on Thursday in the UAAP Season 80 softball tournament at Rizal Memorial Baseball Stadium.

The Lady Falcons pulled off an abbreviated 9-0 win over Ateneo, while the Tigresses edged University of the East, 2-1, in extra innings to stay unbeaten.

Extending their perfect runs to three games, Adamson and UST clash at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Sheila Perales scored the winning run from a Janah Hernandez RBI to help the Tigresses survive.

After a scoreless eight innings, the Lady Warriors entered the scoreboard after Lourdes Blanco sent Mary Joy Catacutan home.

Tin Palma scored an RBI on her own, sending Lealyn Guevarra home for the Tigresses to level at 1-1 in the bottom ninth.

National University ended a two-game slide following a 9-2 conquest of De La Salle.
