Miciano wrests lead in Asian Youth Chess

Fide master John Marvin Miciano of Davao City grabbed the solo lead in the Asian Youth Chess Championships after winning his third-round match on Tuesday in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Handling white, Miciano, the pride of Far Eastern University, bested erstwhile co-leader Arya Omidi of Iran with a perfect 3.0 points in the Under-18 division. Four players trailed Miciano with 2.5 points. They are Daniel Quizon of Dasmariñas City, Cavite, Timur Nurzhanov of Kazakhstan, FM Zhihang Xu of China and FM Guha Mitrabha of India.
