PSL: UP, Foton meet for 7th place

University of the Philippines-United Auctioneers, Inc. and Foton arranged a battle for seventh place in the Philippine Superliga Invitational Conference at Imus Sports Center in Cavite.
Isa Molde came through for the Lady Maroons, who shook off a slow start to beat Cocolife, 23-25, 25-20, 25-16, 25-13, for their first win in the tournament.
The Tornadoes, meanwhile, didn’t break a sweat after it won by default against University of the East-Cherrylume.
The Lady Warriors couldn’t get to the venue due to the heavy rain and flood as ‘Henry’ intensified to a tropical storm midday Tuesday.
The game between UP and Foton is on Thursday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Molde fired 17 points with 14 kills, two service aces and a block and also got enough help from her teammates Marian Buitre, Abi Goc and Jessma Ramos, who combined for 26 points.
Setter Ayel Estrañero also came up big with 35 excellent sets and 16 digs.
“Today it went well and the team really deserves the results even though we started in a shaky way,” Okumu added.
With the loss, the Asset Managers face the Iron Lady Warriors for 9th place also on Thursday.
