NCAA: Letran scores one over San Sebastian

Letran fended off San Sebastian, 83-76, to get in the win column in the NCAA Season 94 men’s basketball tournament Friday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Knights were holding on to a 61-54 lead midway through the payoff period before a 14-3 blitz stretched their lead to 16 and put the game beyond reach.

“The boys have settled down already and we addressed our previous mistakes. Our leaders really stepped up and they were able to bring up the team,” said Knights head coach Jeff Napa as they improve to a 1-1 record.

Letran went 27-for-59 from the field while San Sebastian shot a measly 29-for-81 as they fell to a 1-2 card.

John Quinto led the Knights with 17 points and eight boards while JP Calvo added 16 markers.
