Adamson dumps UP to remain unbeaten in PVL Collegiate Conference

Adamson University stayed immaculate after its four-set win over University of the Philippines, 25-22, 19-25, 25-23, 26-24, in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference Sunday at Filoil Flying V Centre.
The second-seeded Lady Falcons stretched their unbeaten run to four games, one game behind league leader University of Santo Tomas, while the Lady Maroons are in fourth with a 2-2 card.
Eli Soyud led all scorers with 21 points for Adamson while Bernadette Flora added 16.
Despire the win, Lady Falcons head coach Air Padda said she wasn’t fully satisfied with how her team played likening her players’ performance as timid.
“We felt chicken today, I’m disappointed with the hitters because we train them to be fearless,” said Padda. “I don’t want to win sets by tipping and I was disappointed with how they approached the sets.”
“I don’t know how we won, UP was consistent and those girls were hitting harder than us. [Ayel] Estrañero, [Marian] Buitre, and [Isa] Molde they were hitting great. It frustrated me because it didn’t look like we were hitting back.”
The fourth set didn’t wasn’t a one-sided affair in favor of Adamson as the Lady Maroons went back-and-forth with the Lady Falcons in every way possible.
Adamson held a 24-22 lead after Buitre’s error but UP managed to tie the set at 24-24 after Isa Molde’s kill and Soyud’s error.
Soyud, however, stepped up in the extension with an off speed kill for the 25-24 lead before blocking Molde to finish UP off.
Molde and Buitre finished with 15 points for the Lady Maroons who played without Diana Carlos who’s nursing a sore shin.
