Fil-Am Muñoz sets UFC return

MANILA, Philippines—FILIPINO-AMERICAN mixed martial arts star Mark Muñoz has set his eyes on returning to action in the Ultimate Fighting Championship in July.

Munoz was forced to pull out of a UFC main event pitting him and Chael Sonnen recently in what could have been a duel for the top middleweight contender spot.

The layoff has allowed the fighter known as “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” to trace his roots in the Philippines.

Munoz visited his parents’ hometowns of Pasay City and Manila recently during a brief trip in Manila arranged by Balls Channel which airs UFC events.

“I just love my culture,” said Munoz, whose father is a serviceman in the US Navy. “I’m just happy I was able to come home.”
