UM-Tagum sweeps Mindanao leg

University of Mindanao-Tagum ruled both men and women’s divisions of the Mindanao leg of the 15th Nestea beach volleyball held recently at the Paradise Park Resort in Samal Island, Davao del Norte.

Jefty Mora paired with Kim Lapiz as UM-Tagum proved its top billing by crashing Roldan Medina and Imbran Idris of Mindanao State U-Tawi-Tawi, 21-14, 21-19.

Mylene Que and Liezl Manatad followed suit with a 21-18, 21-19 victory over University of Mindanao-Davao’s May Shiel Agton and Reynilen Raterta.

Despite the setback, 2007 national champion MSU-Tawi-Tawi still earned a trip to the Boracay finals on April 19 to 21 along with the tandem of Joel Villonson and Edmar Flores of Holy Cross of Davao, which beat DMMA College of Southern Philippines, 21-14, 21-14 in the battle for third place. Jose Maria College-Davao also advanced in the distaff side.
