Laguna five finds way to Liga finals

SANTA CRUZ, Laguna—Host Laguna Golden Lions ripped the Ilocos Sur CS Tigers, 75-64, Friday night to advance to the championship game of the SMC Liga Pilipinas Conference V Laguna Leg at the San Luis Sports Complex.

The Lions reached the finals on a stronger quotient after forging a three-way tie with the Tigers and the MisOr Meteors at 2-1.  But they barely made the requisite winning margin, needing Boyet Bautista’s baseline drive to log the 11-point cushion and barely beat out the Tigers via the quotient (0.968 to 0.962). The Meteors took the No. 1 spot with a 1.068 quotient.

It was a sorry loss for the Tigers, who were within a championship berth until Jorel Canizares turned the ball over that set Laguna up for the final play.
