Chiz graces Tanauan age group chess

THE GRAND Finals of the 2012 National Age Group and National Juniors Chess Championships get underway tomorrow at the Tanauan Event Center in Tanauan City, Batangas, with Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero as guest of honor.

Also gracing the opening ceremonies of the event which will last up to April 30 are Tanauan City Mayor Sonia Torres Aquino and other City Officials, NCFP officials led by president Prospero  Pichay, secretary general Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino Jr., and organizing committee chair  Raul V. Canobas.

After the completion of the Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao Legs, the 180 qualifiers for the 12 categories (boys & girls -8 under, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U and 20 under) in the Age Group Championships are contending for the title and a berth in the delegation to the 2012 Asian Youth Chess Championships in Sri Lanka.
