Pascua stays perfect with fifth victory

FIDE Master Haridas Pascua bested Jason Francis Mirano of Aklan in the fifth round yesterday for his fifth straight win in the National Age Group and National Juniors Chess Championships at the Tanauan Events Center in Tanauan City. The pride of Mangatarem, Pangasinan, moved a full point ahead of defending champion FM Mari Joseph Turqueza, who won over Franz Robert Grafil, and Joel Pimentel, Jr., who was held to a draw by Vince Angelo Medina in the junior men’s division.
