By

CRIS Tolomia delivered down the stretch as Far Eastern U turned back Adamson, 67-60, yesterday for its second straight win even as La Salle scored a breakthrough triumph in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Hanes Cup.

The sophomore guard, thrust into the limelight following the absence of Terrence Romeo, knocked a triple with 35 seconds left to give the Tamaraws breathing room and snuff out the Falcons’ comeback hopes.

Later, La Salle’s rookies stepped up as the Archers pulled off an 80-73 trouncing of Letran and gave rookie coach Gee Abanilla his first win.
Rookie Jeron Teng finished with 15 points while another newcomer, Mark Tallo, wound up with 10 as the Archers broke away from a tight contest in the last five minutes.

The win evened the Archers’ card at 1-1, while the Knights absorbed their second loss in three outings.
“Our rookies played well today,” said Abanilla. With reports from Randolph Leongson, Jan Eduard Ballesteros and Rodolfo Lozada, contributors
