Subic triathlon dangles top prizes

WITH organizers offering some of the finest prizes for a triathlon held in the country, tougher competition is expected in the K-Swiss ITU Subic Bay International Triathlon (Subit) presented by Century Tuna on May 5 and 6 at the Subic Bay Freeport.

An all-expenses paid trip to the Hong Kong ITU Triathlon Asian Cup event will be part of the set of awards that will be handed out to the winners of the two-day event.

Aside from the trip, shoes and tri-suits from K-Swiss also await the top standard distance age-group finishers.

The Triathlon Association of the Philippines said that over 50 Elite entries from 23 countries have signed up and the number is expected to rise as the competition nears.

Specially crafted medals will go to the Top 5 finishers of the standard distance age group categories and the Top 3 finishers in the sprint distance categories of the event sponsored by K-Swiss, Century Tuna, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), Speedo, Harbor Point Ayala Malls, SM City Olongapo, David’s Salon, Travelers Hotel, Asian Centre for Insulation Philippines, Gatorade, Fitness First, Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and Standard Insurance.

Participants with the best swim, bike and run time will win gift certificates plus cash prizes.

Team Relay category winners will be awarded with medals.

Special awards will be given to the heaviest male and female participants who finish the race and submit themselves to a weight check.

Sponsor Century Tuna is also putting up cash prizes of P15,000, P10,000 and P5,000, respectively, to the Top 3 Male and Top 3 Female winners of the Century Tuna Supertribods search. Cedelf P. Tupas
