MANILA, Philippines – Vic Manuel hit a career-high 30 points to power Cebuana Lhuillier to a 90-64 beatdown of Junior Powerade Tuesday in the 2012 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Gems were off to a hot start led by Manuel’s 17 points in the first half.
The Tigers, who are now standing on thin ice in keeping their playoff hopes alive, fought back and managed to trim the deficit to seven, 52-59, but their run didn’t last long as the Gems went on an onslaught in the final period.
Cebuana Lhuillier, which also drew double-digit scoring from Lester Alvarez and Yousef Taha, assured itself of a playoff spot as it upped its record to 6-2.
Alvarez and Taha added 15 and 11 points respectively.
Claude Cubo led the Tigers with 17 points and 13 rebounds while Alvin Padilla chipped in a double-double as well with 10 points and 10 boards.
Junior Powerade misfired on its 17 of 18 attempts from beyond-the-arc.
