FEU relies on backcourt men to beat St. Benilde in Filoil Preseason Cup

MANILA, Philippines – Far Eastern University relied on its solid backcourt to beat St. Benilde, 74-67, Saturday in the 2012 FilOil Flying V Preseason Hanes Cup at the San Juan Arena.
RR Garcia shot a game-high 22 points on four triples while Cris Tolomia added 11 points, including timely baskets to put the Blazers away.
“Our rebounding has improved but we have to learn how to always share the ball,” said FEU coach Bert Flores.
The Tamaraws kept their hold of second place in Group B with a 3-1 slate.
CSB, despite the absence of its star guard Carlo Lastimosa due to suspension, didn’t go down without a fight as it battled back from a 15-point fourth quarter deficit and moved to within striking distance down the stretch.
Joel Tolentino’s 16 points paced the Blazers, who absorbed their third defeat in four outings.
