MULTI-TITLED Carlos Anton of Castrol-Yokohama–Cars Unlimited Racing dominated the Circuit Showdown anew, posting his third record-breaking triumph in as many races recently at the Batangas Racing Circuit.
Anton steered his Mark Young-Hornitex prepared CRX with a Mohspeed-tuned engine built by Morris Miranda to a blistering laptime of one minute and 45.942 seconds around the 3.5-kilometer race track.
Anton thus padded his championship lead entering the fourth round of the series in June at the Clark International Speedway.
“The car was fantastic today and I’m happy to get not just the win but also the track record,” said Anton, who is gunning for a sixth straight title in the Hillclimb Championship.
Joby Tanseco, in a Lamborghini, came in second with a time of 1:48.558 seconds while Rolf Wiltschek, parading a Porsche GT3RS, came in third with a time of 1:50.819 seconds in the Bracket A Time Trial division to lead over 60 drivers who joined the series.
“We are a little down on power as our car only has 215 horsepower but it corners really well,” Anton added.
