La Salle nabs fourth win in Filoil Pre-Season Cup

MANILA, Philippines – A 9-0 run in the payoff period buoyed La Salle to a 75-67 victory over Perpetual Help Friday in the 2012 Filoil Pre-season Cup at the Arena in San Juan.
From a slim 62-60 advantage, the Green Archers stretched it to a double-digit gap en route to the squad’s fourth victory with just two losses and a third-place spot in group A.
Norbert Torres, backed by rookies Jeron Teng and Mark Tallo, led La Salle with double digit scoring and solid rebounding.
A bucket from Torres, who had a game-best 20 points, gave the Green Archers its biggest lead of the night at 71-60 with three and half minutes left.
The Altas, who kept up with the Green Archers and even had the lead early in the third quarter, skid to their sixth setback with just a victory.
Anthony Paulino and Jett Vidal had 12 and 11 points, respectively, on a losing effort.
