Knights, Green Archers clobber Filoil Hanes Cup foes

By

LETRAN leaned on the explosive game of diminutive guard Mark Cruz while La Salle banked on big man Norbert Torres as both squads dumped separate opponents to grab a share of third place yesterday in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Hanes Cup.

The 5-foot-6 Cruz pumped in 27 points built on a 4-of-6 shooting clip from three-point range to lift the Knights past the Mapua Cardinals, 79-55, at the Filoil Flying V Arena.

La Salle also drew a big game from Torres, who shone with 20 points and eight rebounds in leading the Archers to a 75-67 triumph over the Perpetual Help Altas in the second game.

Both the Archers and the Knights rose to 4-2 behind San Beda (7-0) and Ateneo (6-1).
