Favored Filoil squads roar to preseason tilt semifinals

By

San Beda broke out of the gates hard and   overpowered St. Benilde, 80-41, yesterday even as UAAP squads Ateneo and National U also clinched semifinal berths in the 2012 Filoil Flying V Pre-Season Hanes Cup.

The Lions hardly gave the Blazers breathing room, racing to a double-digit lead in the first half, before finishing the game with a flourish to book a return ticket to the Final Four at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Like San Beda, National U also stayed perfect in the preseason tournament as it repulsed University of Santo Tomas, 77-68, to set up a semifinal duel against the Eagles, who overcame the Far Eastern U Tamaraws, 74-63.

La Salle and San Sebastian were disputing the last semifinal berth at presstime with the winner meeting San Beda on Saturday.

The Bulldogs stifled the Tigers in the second half to pull through and extend their winning streak to nine games.
