Pacquiao-Bradley fight: Are your representatives in Las Vegas?

By

MANILA, Philippines — Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. on Thursday pegged the number of lawmakers who could be watching boxing champion Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao’s fight with Timothy Bradley in Las Vegas, USA on June 9.

Of the estimated number, Belmonte could only count two lawmakers who confirmed that they will watch the bout. He only named one, however, and it is House committee on games and amusements Manila Representative Amado Bagatsing.

He said that the travel period of the 25 lawmakers coincided with the fight, but he was not sure who among them would be watching the fight.

He added that aside from the 25, others may be planning to fly to the US to watch the fight.

The Speaker maintained that there was “nothing wrong with going there as long as you don’t spend government funds to go there.”

Majority leader Neptali Gonzales II said that the House of Representatives will issue a  commendation to Pacquiao should he beat Bradley.

The two House leaders also said that they had no plans of flying to the US to watch Pacquiao’s fight.

Are these 25 congressmen will be on official government business trip? If it is a personal trip then they should use their remaining vacation leave and should be at their own expense (transportation, hotels, food, etc.).

” will issue a  commendation to Pacquiao should he beat Bradley.” sandali muna, ano ba talaga ang papel ni pacquiao mamababatas o boksingero?  dapat talaga si pacquiao di na lang nahalal bilang kongresista, at tumutok na lang sa larangan ng palakasan.
