Pacquiao urged to just pursue fight with Mayweather

MANILA, Philippines — Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao should just pursue his fight with American Floyd Mayweather Jr. rather than seek a rematch with Timothy Bradley whose shock victory has been widely seen as a rigged decision.

“I think Manny should not consider agreeing so easily to a rematch with Bradley because the public might think he was a willing accomplice to what happened. I think it should be Mayweather and nobody else even if it means taking a lower prize,” said Manila Rep. Amado Bagatsing.

The chairman of the House committee on games and amusement said that the continuing outrage by Filipino, American, Mexican, Arab and Asian boxing fans three days after the fight showed how unpopular and unbelievable was the split decision made by the three judges. “Public opinion is really behind Manny,” said Bagatsing.

According to Bagatsing, Pacquiao has no choice but to continue fighting in Las Vegas despite doubts on the ingtegrity of the Nevada Athletic Commission, which sanctioned the bout. He said Pacquiao’s last fight outside Las Vegas with Joshua Clottey in Texas two years ago did not earn much compared to his Las Vegas fights where the tickets were subsidized by casinos.

After what happened, there is no way that PACMAN should trust again the boxing bodies or more appropriately, the gangs that rule it.  Whether it`s Bradley or Mayweather whom Manny fights next, it is more certain that Pacman would not be treated fairly. With boxing having shown again it`s ugly head, Manny should better retire and enjoy his millions while fans around the world still hold him in admiration.

  • e e

Pursue fight with Mayweather and get the same treatment or even worse?
And what would be the worst thing that could happen to Pacquiao after the Bradley fight? They will contaminate his urine or blood sample so he will test POSITIVE.

Retire NOW Pacquiao and run away from boxing, PLEASE, while you still can.!

That will be American Corruption at its Worst!!!

  • joshua kings

manny pacquiao should retire.  his legs are no longer there (did you notice that the agility was gone and was moving like a thai boxer? what is the problem with your calves, manny?) and the power with which he demolished hatton is diminished.

in bradley-pacquiao II, the former will be declared by the judges again the winner. why? just to prove that their first decision was correct/true.

mayweather will easily demolish pacquiao if manny fights the same way he did with bradley. or lose on points, too.

so the best option fo manny is to retire; quit while you are ahead, manny.

    • levis2012

Kung meron mang rematch… IBA NA ANG MGA JUDGES at hindi na sa NEVADA… Kaya mali ka sa 2nd paragraph mo…but i still respect your opinion.

  • Oliver82

For the FINALE.. Gayweather and retire for God’s sakes. You accomplished so much and there’s nothing to prove.

  • kalikasanipagtanggol

Mayweather – Pacquiao bout, if it will ever happen, will be another disappointment…..Both fighers are not in their prime anymore as evidence of their lackluster performance in recent fights with their opponents……..

    • levis2012

Baka i FIXED na naman yan…. mas inuuna kasi masyado ang PERA, PERA kaysa sa HONOR.

  • Karabukov

Pacquiao is bigger than the stolen title the judges grabbed from him by the judges and handed over to a befuddled Tim Bradley.

He has absolutely nothing to prove to justify a rematch other than money. Pacquiao doesn’t need the title. He is still the champion.

Call out Mayweather for the fight of the century. Or retire.

  • KennyG62

If manny strongly believes that he won, was robbed and was not part of this rigged bout, he should leave arum, and should not agree for a rematch with Bradley – plain and simple, just challenge mayweather.

  • walaKA

A rematch clause was included in their fight contract in case of Pacquaio loss which is now executable..It will be a tough task negotiating for a Mayweather fight..Pacquiao has no choice but to agree on his demands if he really wants to push it..

    • easycome913

That rematch clause should be examined. Is it mandatory or discretionary on the part of Pacquiao. If it’s up to him, Pacquiao should not agree to the rematch. Everyone knows he defeated Bradley so there’s nothing to prove anymore. Look for another opponent. It doesn’t have to be Mayweather.

      • joshua kings

the contract says that if manny loses, automatically there will be a rematch; that bradley can not deny.
problem is this: if manny calls for a rematch, he is admitting and accepting that bradley defeated him and was the true winner of their fight last saturday.
another problem is: the we bulong brigade now with a new addition in jeric soriano and bro eddie’s groups, may egg him to do the rematch, which is understandable coz this means another hefty contribution to their cause…

and bob arum the architect (the hoodlums in robes are mere members of his gang) of this highway robbery on broad daylight, will be laughing more on his way to the bank.

        hahaha! pera-pera lang lahat yan….lol.
