WBO to review Bradley win over Pacquiao

LOS ANGELES—The World Boxing Organization will review Timothy Bradley’s shock split-decision victory over Manny Pacquiao, which sparked outrage among observers who thought the Filipino fight king won the bout.

Bradley, who improved to 29-0 with the victory, seized Pacquaio’s WBO welterweight world title.

But WBO president Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel said in a statement that the body’s championship committee would review the fight “to take measures in accordance with the rules of procedure”.

Valcarcel said the committee will meet soon and evaluate video of the fight with the help of five “recognized international judges”.

Based on “what emerges” the committee will make a recommendation to the WBO.

“I want to clarify that in no way this says that we are doubting the capacity of these judges, which we consider as honest and competent judges,” Valcarcel said.

Saturday’s bout in Las Vegas saw judge Jerry Roth give Pacquiao the fight 115-113, but C.J. Ross and Duane Ford both had Bradley winning by the same score, despite Pacquiao appearing to land the more damaging blows throughout the contest.

The fight’s promoter, Bob Arum, questioned the competence of the judges, the selection process the Nevada State Athletic Commission used to choose them, and the fact that all came from Nevada.

While Arum said after the fight that the scoring was the result of incompetence and not corruption, on Monday he said he would ask the Nevada attorney general’s office “for a full and complete inquiry.”

On Tuesday, US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid backed a probe into the decision.

“If an investigation makes everyone feel better, do the investigation,” said Reid, who represents Nevada.

new jersey state boxing council has better reputation… nevada should follow:
    Three judges banned by state
The fallout from the controversial decision in the Paul Williams-Erislandy Lara junior middleweight bout continued Wednesday when the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board took the highly unusual action of indefinitely suspending the three judges who worked the 12-round bout.
Williams was given a heavily criticized majority decision victory Saturday night as judges Hilton Whitaker (115-114) and Don Givens (116-114) scored for him, while Al Bennett (114-114) had the HBO-televised main event at Boardwalk Hall’s Adrian Phillips Ballroom a draw.

Manny Pacquiao is doing the waltz and the boogie at the same time, On one hand he is holding the bible and on the other a .boxing glove, He uses violence inside the ring like a gladiator, then forgives the mistake committed on him. He attends a religious congregation advocating peace and love with Jesus the Lord while he promises his fans he will certainly knock out Bradley in their rematch. Let’s wait for the recommendation of the investigating committee before we say that the investigation is just for show. People already doubted the competence (and complicity to the rigging of the fight result) of the judges that prompted the NSAC to accede in conducting an investigation. Let us not pre-judged the investigating committee.

What a stupidity to make out of a boxing an international affair. Millions have seen Manny winning? Also millions have seen Brafley winning. It is shameful that a whole nation blames the judges and even the USA for cheating “the Philippines”.
Not long ago, another boxer claimed that Paquiao “stiole” his winning with the he;p of the judges and millions of people said the same, but the whole nation defended the judges.
There is no more fairness, only greed that Paquiqo has to win, how ever. Why two judges are wrong and not the one who put Manny ahead? It is very normal that without an ko there could be a split decision. Wonder what would have been the eaction if all three have Bradley winning?
Let them fight in Manila, with RP judges, and Paquiao will be the winner ven if he is thrown out of the ring, and all would say “correct, our hero won”.
