MANILA, Philippines — A second-half surge propelled a mighty Rain or Shine past Petron, 103-82, Saturday night of the 2012 PBA Governors Cup in Dumaguete City.
The Elastopainters, adding another convincing victory to their win-lose record of 7-1, overcame a three-point halftime deficit to win by a whopping 21-point lead.
Rain or Shine broke the game wide open in the final eight minutes with a crippling 27-9 run, after the Blaze Boosters inched within 73-76.
Jireh Ibanez, who capped the outburst with an impressive off-balanced triple with 3:18 on the clock, led the Elastopainters with 15 points.
Petron, which succumbed to its fourth setback in as many victories, never recovered after it lost the lead early in the third quarter.
A triple from Jay Washington pulled the Blaze Boosters to within three points with eight minutes left in the game, but was the last run they could summon.
