Powerade unveils ion4 to help PH

By

Powerade, the official sports drink of the 2012 London Olympics, developed a better way of rehydrating as it unveiled its new drink, Powerade ion4, to accompany the Philippine contingent throughout the competition. Brand manager TJ Sonza in an interview during the founding celebration of the International Olympic Committee tells us more: “In physical activities like sports especially in the Olympics, athletes work hard, they train a lot and during the competition they sweat and when you sweat you lose more than just water. And when you compete in games like the Olympics, you have to make sure that your body is complete and nothing is missing in your game. Other sports drinks they have two ions, Powerade ion4 has four. It’s able to replace the four primary ions typically lost when you sweat and these are sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium.” Replenishing is one thing, rehydrating is another. She added, “It also provides electrolytes and gives carbohydrates as fuel for your working muscles and in that way you are able to power through all the challenges and achieve your goals.” Video by Ryan Leagogo, INQUIRER.net

MANILA, Philippines—There’s more to sweating than just losing water.

Powerade, the official sports drink of the 2012 London Olympics, developed a better way of rehydrating as it unveiled its new drink to accompany the Philippine contingent throughout the competition.

“In physical activities like sports especially in the Olympics, athletes work hard, they train a lot and during the competition they sweat and when you sweat you lose more than just water. And when you compete in games like the Olympics, you have to make sure that your body is complete and nothing is missing in your game.” said brand manager TJ Sonza recently at the founding celebration of the International Olympic Committee.

“Other sports drinks they have two ions, Powerade ion4 has four. It’s able to replace the four primary ions typically lost when you sweat and these are sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium,” added Sonza.

Replenishing is one thing, rehydrating is another.

“It also provides electrolytes and gives carbohydrates as fuel for your working muscles and in that way you are able to power through all the challenges and achieve your goals,” said Sonza.

Powerade also came up with activities through social networking for everyone to participate in and show support for the country’s nine proud olympians.

“If you visit the Powerade Facebook page, you can go to the run for gold tab and there you can submit a video of yourself running so that you can participate in the virtual olympic marathon.”

For every video, the brand will pledge P100 to a fund with a goal to raise P1million pesos for the first Filipino Olympic gold medalist.

The Philippines holds the record for the most number of medals with nine sans a gold.

“Another way you can participate is through our Powerade Olympic mosaic activation where you can go to our Facebook page and type in your support to our athletes,” said Sonza. “We’re also here because we’re supporting Team Philippines in their quest to achieve the first Philippine Olympic gold medal.”
