Energen Pilipinas clinches SEABA U-18 title

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine youth basketball squad claimed the 2012 SEABA U-18 title via four-game sweep capped by 81-57 triumph over Indonesia Saturday in Singapore.

The Energen Pilipinas, mentored by PBA great Olsen Racela, also assured itself of a spot in the Fiba Asia Championship in Mongolia after topping the tournament.

J-Jay Alejandro, who showed impressive form the entire tournament, once again paced Energen with 18 points and eight rebounds.

Rey Nambatac added 15 points while Kyle Suarez chipped in 13 points and nine boards for the Philippines, who outscored Indonesia in the fourth quarter 20-8.

The Philippines threw its weight around in the paint, scoring 16 more points inside and also displayed great ball movement, dishing out 20 assists compared to six from Indonesia.
