LONDON—Swimming superstar Michael Phelps became the most decorated Olympian in history here Tuesday, taking his tally to a record 19 medals as the United States won gold in the 4x200m relay.

Phelps, winner of eight gold medals at the Beijing Games four years ago, moved one clear of Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina who won 18 medals between 1956 and 1964.

Phelps had moved level with Latynina earlier in the evening, bagging his 18th medal in the 200m butterfly final.

Less than one hour later he returned to the pool as the United States romped home in the relay ahead of France in silver and China in third.

Im glad the Chinese are not on the helm of the leaderboard anymore. Can you imagine China, North Korea and Russia sa Top five sa Olympics on the first few days?

he he he… does it really matter who’s on top of the standings?

enjoy the show.  these well-conditioned athletes are the best of the best.  this is a test of wills and fighting spirit.  while love of country is a big booster, it is the individual’s effort against his/her opposition that should be lauded.

but for a few of the politics, the games’ a testimony as to how conflicts should be resolved. fair and square.

Lupit talaga nito ni Phelps. Lupit din sigurado ng baga nito. Lugi ang mga adik d2. Sigurado ubos ang isang chongkee sa kanya ng isang hithitan.

glad he didn’t retire as he was being “advised” after the beijing olympics. kudos to ryan lochte who may be making bigger waves this olympics, but world records are the bigger picture now for phelps!
