San Beda trips Letran; Mapua clobbers EAC in NCAA basketball

MANILA, Philippines — San Beda tripped rival Letran, 68-62, to remain on top of the 88th NCAA men’s basketball tournament at the San Juan Arena.

Guard Baser Amer led the Red Lions with 11 markers and six dimes as his squad improved to 10-2 while the Knights dropped to 6-6.

In the other game, Mapua clobbered Emilio Aguinaldo College, 80-55, behind former rookie of the year Josan Nimes.

Nimes flirted with a double-double as he notched nine points along with nine boards for the Cardinals, along with seven assists.

The Cardinals hiked its record to 5-7 and broke the tie with the Generals in the standings.
