Lady Falcons exact revenge on Lady Archers, forge semis decider in beach volley

By

MANILA, Philippines—Adamson lost one game in the morning but won the rest of its crucial matches to end the day with a chance to make it to the finals of the 75th UAAP women’s beach volleyball.

The pair of Shiela Pineda and Pau Soriano pulled a workman-like effort to erase the disadvantage against No. 2 La Salle,16-21, 21-16, 15-12, in the step ladder semifinals at the rain-hit UE Caloocan sand court.

The Lady Archers tandem of Wensh Tiu and Kim Fajardo earlier defeated the Lady Falcons to gain the twice-to-beat edge—but ultimately lost that advantage in the rematch.

Adamson and La Salle dispute the last spot in the finals on Saturday morning, while University of Santo Tomas, which swept the semis, await the victor for their clash in the afternoon.

Adamson kicked off its arduous campaign in the step-ladder semifinals with a 21-14, 21-12 win over University of the Philippines, whose first stint in the top four was short-lived.

In the men’s division, powerhouse Far Eastern University and National University clash in the finals after eliminating respective foes.

Defending titlist Arvin Avila and Karl de la Calzada of the Tamaraws eliminated Red Christensen and Kevin de la Vega of the Green Archers, 21-19, 21-16.

In the other game, the Bulldogs tandem of Josephenry Tipay and Edwin Tolentino tripped Falcons’ John Hendrix Competente and Gilbert Longavela, 21-17, 21-17, to enter the finals of the first time in history.
