Naascu: St. Clare, Amacu trim foes

St. Clare sustained its hot pursuit of the title even as former champion Amacu kept its hopes alive with separate victories in the National Athletics Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (Naascu) men’s basketball tournament Tuesday night.

Eugene Torres and Jeff Alvin Viernes led the Saints to their 10th straight win with an 80-51 rout of the New Era Hunters at San Andres Gym in Manila.

The Saints need just two more wins to sweep the eliminations and automatically make the finals.

Centro Escolar outlasted STI, 72-65, in the other game to stay at 9-1.
